Dog Bites

Who doesn't know someone who owns dog? But how well do you really know that dog. Each year there are approximately 350,000 victims of dog bites that are seen in emergency rooms, while there are 850,000 that need some sort of medical attention from a bite. Dog bites can cause lasting scars, extreme pain, psychological issues resulting from an attack as well as lost wages caused by a visit to the emergency room doctors office.

Dog bites are by far the most common liability claim on home insurance policies amounting to 1/3 of the claims. If you are bit by a dog and dog owner owns the home, chances are you have some protection to file a claim under the liability provisions under the insurance policy. However, some insurance companies exclude certain breeds, especially if the breed has certain propensities to be dangerous.
